Spring has sprung, Salad Garden producing salads

Conservation seems to be on everyone’s minds.

First bud of the season following unusually harsh winter (thanks El Nino)

Today I am sharing one of my most gratifying actions, completed the Salad garden out front.  A few images to show the progression and results.

settle on a location, build up a border to hold new soil

Reusing materials I have to expand the growing area and have shade of Bismarkia Palm. Place wet newspaper down prior to building up new special soil mixture.

Position blocks to utilize growing area, put stones in bottom for drainage and place cascading herbs in taller slots

Edible nasturtium, pansies, basil and thyme (colorful and healthy)

Exterior frame for potted VERY HOT peppers, 7 varieties

Used some old floor tile, turned upside down to prevent pots from sliding, holds down bermuda grass. The caught rain water takes care of the rest.

More to follow.

Any questions on sun exposure, which seeds to sprout, when and where, just ASK.  Be sure to include your growing zone.
