The following wisdom is imparted by dear friends Bill and Consuelo. We’ve worked together for over 5 years now and they will always have a special place in my heart. I admire their perseverance regardless of the obstacles placed in front of them. Read on; digest it very carefully and give thanks for the insight or reminder!
____________

Bill and Consuelo
I’ve said this for years: If you want to separate yourself from all the other network marketers out there, stop talking about the products and stop talking about the company, and start talking about the people.
When I say the people, I’m talking about your upline. For those of you that have been following this blog, you know how strongly I feel about the upline team (it’s the most important asset you have).
From the emails and phone calls I’ve been receiving on yesterday’s blog, I know that many of you are on board with this idea, but might be struggling a little bit with implementing it. It’s ok; that’s normal
Most people don’t think this way, and unless you’ve been brought up as the heiress to a multi-million dollar fortune, you probably don’t either. But if you want the HUGE money in network marketing, you’ve got to make this transition.
Yesterday I talked (typed – LOL) with you about my story, or my ‘pitch.’ Today, I want to talk to you about the music behind my words. The attitude, confidence, mindset, and body language that goes with it…
Everything you say and everything you do has an effect on your prospect, but it’s also how you say and do it that affects the outcome. The way you hold your arms, when in the conversation you lean forward, do you look them straight in the eye (and when do you glance away?), what is the volume of your voice and when do you raise and lower it, are you talking to them like a friend or like an authority figure? All of these factors (and many, many more) have a large effect on your success in clearly delivering your message.
Now before you despair and give up on ever being able to master all these subtle techniques (politicians spend their entire careers mastering these things, LOL), understand that there is an easier way.
If you learn to think the right way, you’ll act the right way. There, that’s it; it’s that simple. Class dismissed. Remember what we’ve been saying? “The biggest difference between people that just make some money in network marketing and those that buy islands is the way they think.”
So we don’t need to waist blog space talking about whether or not you should wear a bikini for your next presentation (you shouldn’t – unless you’re on Bali and even then only shoes are required
), instead, let’s talk about what our mind-set should be. And remember, I’m assuming that we’re going to be talking to people that say they’d like to make a lot of money.
First lesson: You have what they need, not the other way around. This is not arrogance, this is simple truth. You have access to millionaire makers, they don’t. You’ve got the team that has the knowledge, wisdom, experience, and track record of making others wealthy. You can direct the awesome power of this team to whomever you bestow it on. Hopefully you are mature enough to not let this go to your head, but it would be better to err on that side than to send the wrong signals by being timid, meek, or unsure. If you really care about someone, get this part down. How tragic it would be for a loved one to miss out on this awesome experience because you were too timid to communicate it with strength.
“If they think you need them, they will run from you. If they believe you’re doing them a favor, they will flock to you.”
– Bill Luznicky
Second lesson: Stop worrying about whether they’ll be successful or not. Here’s the reality; some will, some won’t – and you can’t control that. If you spend your time second guessing yourself and trying to predict who will be successful or not you’ll never attract anybody (and you’ll deny everyone the opportunity to be wealthy). Besides, who do you think you are? God? You can’t know whether someone has the desire, work ethic, persistence, and fortitude to take full advantage of the opportunity or not. And that’s not your job. Your job is to clearly present the magnitude of this awesome opportunity; to give them a chance they would otherwise never have. You should feel good about this and they should thank you every day for the rest of their lives that you thought enough of them to give them this chance.
Lesson # 3: Understand that it’s a numbers game. You don’t need the person you’re prospecting. If they don’t join you, someone else will (it’s just numbers). Talk to everyone and don’t prejudge. The biggest mistake you’ll ever make: “Oh, he wouldn’t be interested – he’s already way successful.”
Lesson #4: Don’t be afraid to take it away. If in the course of presenting this incredible situation to someone they throw out an objection, I’ll respond to it. If they throw out another one, I’ll probably respond to that too. But if the objections keep coming, I’m very quick to pull back my offer. I politely let them know that I’d be glad to answer any questions that are really important to them, but I’m really sensing that this opportunity is just not right for them. We’re still friends and we can talk more about it some other time, but right now I’m putting together my inner team and I don’t have a lot of time.
I’ll let them know how it goes. Sometimes they quickly convince me that no, they really are serious. But if they don’t, it’s ok. I just know that they’re not right for my inner circle. I’ll come back after we launch and let them buy product from me.
Oh, and if they ask me what the product is, I’ll tell them that it will be a good quality nutritional product. If they ask again I suggest you tell them that you don’t know and you don’t care. The important thing to you is that you’ve got a team of pros willing to work daily with you and your team and nothing is as important as that. If you can make a million dollars with it, you could care less whether you’re marketing Vitamin C, or water from the Fountain of Youth !!! Their response to this will let you know if you’re talking to the right person or not.
Lesson #5: This is our shot. This is our chance and we’re not going to miss it. Consuelo and I just bought our dream home and we were able to do it (in an economy where no one else can) because we treated our last venture like it was our shot (maybe our only shot) at taking our income and lifestyle to another level. This time around, we’ve got a shot at providing for our family for generations; I’m talking Trust Fund Wealth. This is our chance to provide a legacy; to make sure that no one in our family ever again will grow up with crooked teeth. To make sure we all have the best doctors and the best care. To insure that no family member ever has to die alone in some state run facility. To give all the children options at the best schools, be it Harvard, MIT, or Oxford overseas. And speaking of travel, what an advantage it will be for us to all know what it’s like to live in a Third World Country – to see first-hand what corruption, politics, and lack of education can do to a people. What an advantage it will be to experience the cultures and history of Europe and Asia. To change the world you must know the world, to know the world you must travel the world and meet her people’s. I choose to be the patriarch of my family. I choose to make a difference and this is my shot to do so.
Everyone has different goals in life, but when you get the above five lessons down pat (especially number 5), you’ll be unstoppable – and your world will be a better place.
