On any given summer weekend, about 54 million American’s break out their gas powered lawn mowers to cut the grass. 
But what many of you don’t know, your lawn mower is one of the worst offenders going, when it comes to air pollution.
The EPA (environmental protection agency) says one hour of mowing is equal to driving 350 miles in terms of pollution!
Lawnmowers emit six dangerous chemicals, such as lead, and sulfur dioxide that can hurt your nervous system and lungs … especially in kids.
And every year, over 17 million gallons of gas are spilled refueling lawn and garden equipment. That’s more oil spilled by Exxon Valdez in 1989.
One traditional gas powered lawn mower produces as much air pollution as 43 new cars … each being driven for 12-thousand miles!
And this is why the the push is on to get more people away from pull cords and plugged in.
More and more people are turning to electric mowers.
Rechargeable electric mowers are making headway but many stores still only carry the ones that limit your reach, using extension cords.
Other folks are going completely green, reverting back to the old days, with manual lawn mowers that use no juice at all.
